BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) - A Buffalo woman is accused of stealing $23,331 in unemployment insurance benefits from the federal government. The U.S. Attorney’s Office says 25-year-old Antionette Willoughby pleaded guilty to theft of government funds.
According to the U.S. Attorney’s Office, part-time employees are entitled to unemployment insurance benefits as long as their income does not exceed $400 a week.
Between October 2008 and March 2012, Willoughby allegedly certified for benefits on 136 occasions, but failed to report income she earned from two other employers.
Willoughby could face a maximum sentence of 10 years in prison, a fine of $250,000 or both.
