CHEEKTOWAGA, N.Y. (WIVB) - A Depew woman is accused of selling drugs near Cheektowaga High School. The Erie County District Attorney’s Office says 46-year-old Debra Piatek was arraigned on a sealed indictment Tuesday, charging her with selling and possessing controlled substances.
Piatek allegedly sold Suboxone pills to an undercover narcotics detective near the high school in September. In October, Piatek allegedly sold buprenorphine to undercover narcotics detectives on two occasions. The DA’s office says Suboxone, a brand name for buprenorphine, is used to manage opiate addiction. It is said that abuse of the drug is on the rise among high school and college students.
If convicted, Piatek faces a maximum prison sentence of 27 years.
