Woman connected to sex offender sought

BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) - The woman suspected of running off with a convicted sex offender now has a warrant out for her arrest.

Authorities have been searching for Cara Dickey, a former teacher sent to prison for having sex with her 14-year-old student. Dickey was on parole when authorities say she cut off her ankle monitoring bracelet and went on the run after parole officials learned Dickey had violated conditions of her release.

Now the woman Dickey is suspected of being with is also being sought. Authorities say 25-year-old Candice Brighon is wanted for parole absconding. Brighon served time in jail for third degree burglary and third degree criminal possession of a weapon.

When Dickey called News 4, she stated, "My violation has come with being involved and fraternizing with another felon... a grown woman. There is no child involved; there is no man involved. I was fraternizing with a grown woman who I've been having a relationship with for a few months."
