BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) - A Buffalo woman had morphine, cocaine, marijuana and alcohol in her system during a car accident in the city last year.
Jennifer Garno, 36, pleaded guilty Monday to leaving the scene of a serious personal injury accident and DWAI by a combined influence of drugs and alcohol. On June 5, 2012, Garno drove through a red light on West Utica and hit Jeffrey Stanton, 51, who was riding his motorcycle.
Garno got out of her vehicle and took off on foot, hopping over a fence on West Utica and running down Delaware. Witnesses who saw the accident chased her, and Garno was caught by Buffalo Police.
Stanton was seriously injured and spent more than two months at ECMC recovering from a broken leg and a head injury. He will require further rehabilitation and treatment.
Garno will be sentenced next month and faces a maximum sentence of one-and-a-third to four years in prison.
