BARKER, N.Y. (WIVB) - A Niagara County woman won't spend any time in jail for stealing unemployment benefits for over five years.
Deborah Manning, 55, of Barker was sentenced to probation by U.S. Magistrate Judge Hugh B. Scott on Wednesday after being convicted of theft of government funds. Manning collected unemployment benefits from March 2007 to May 2012 by lying about her income while she was employed by the postal service. In all, Manning stole nearly $9,000.
Manning will be on one-year probation. She has already paid full restitution.
