TONAWANDA, N.Y. (WIVB) - Here's your chance to stock up on your summer reading and entertainment for a low, low price.

The 58th Annual Scholarship Book Sale hosted by the Buffalo Branch of the American Association of University Women opens at nine o'clock Wednesday morning (May 30) and runs through Sunday afternoon (June 3). The sale offers more than 100,000 used books, as well as puzzles, games, CD's and DVD's.

The giant five-day sale has become known as the largest all-volunteer book sale in this part of the state. This is the third year the traveling sale has been able to stay in the same location -- the (former) Office Depot Plaza at Sheridan Drive and Eggert Road in the Town of Tonawanda. Most hard-cover books are priced at one dollar, paperback are 50 cents. Newer books and collectibles are priced higher.

Proceeds from the sale are used to fund scholarships for local high school and college students, interest-free college loans, grants for community projects, and more. Members of the AAUW Buffalo Branch spend many months collecting, sorting and organizing sale items to prepare for this giant fundraiser.

The sale hours are Wednesday through Saturday from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. and Sunday afternoon from noon to 5 p.m. Wednesday's admission charge is ten dollars in the morning. At 1 p.m. the fee drops to five dollars. Admission is just one dollar from Thursday through Saturday. There is no admission charge Sunday.

The Buffalo Branch AAUW has graciously offered to fund a $5,000 scholarship for a local student in the name of News Four's Jacquie Walker to honor her community service. Applications are available at the book sale site and online through this link.
