Alternate jurors speak about trial

BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) - News 4 spoke with two alternate jurors in the Luke Wright trial, Wednesday.

The alternate jurors' feelings are that Wright is guilty.

  >>  The jury began deliberations Wednesday morning

Erie County Judge Michael D'Amico excused the four alternate jurors about an hour after deliberations got underway. One of the alternates, Anthony Farrucci, told News 4 he believes Luke Wright is guilty on all 10 counts of raping, sodomizing, and assaulting his half sister, Laura Cummings.

Farracci also says, he was not convinced by Defense Attorney John Nucereno, or his only witness, Dr. Charles Ewing, a psychologist, who made the case that Luke Wright was an unreliable reporter of his actions.

The prosecution built much of its case against Wright on statements Wright gave to Sheriff's detectives. Ironically, if jurors don't believe Wright told deputies the truth, then they would not believe Wright is guilty.

Faracci believes Luke Wright knew the atrocities he committed against Laura, by himself and with this mother Eva Cummings were wrong, he meant to hurt her, and he knew the consequences might be jail.

Another alternate juror also told News 4, off camera, she believes Wright is guilty and knew what he did was wrong, but she felt some sympathy for Wright and his siblings due to the horrific nature of their mother, and the home where they were abused.
