BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) - The proposition allowing voters to choose whether to downsize the Erie County Legislature will be on the ballot.
A short time ago, the State Appellate Division of the Supreme Court ruled in favor of having the measure on the ballot a week from Tuesday. The proposition, brought forth by regionalism advocate Kevin Gaughan, will let voters decide whether to shrink the legislature from 15 seats to 11.
The Appellate panel concluded that Election Commissioners Ralph Mohr and Dennis Ward "abused their ministerial authority" in rejecting the ballot proposal to trim the County Legislature.
