TONAWANDA, N.Y. (WIVB) - From ponding on the roadways to flooded basements, we could be in for a real headache.
You could see the rising water at Ellicott Creek Park in Tonawanda, Tuesday morning. There was some ponding in the park, but no major flooding.
There was rushing water in Williamsville overnight and drivers are dodging ponding on the roadways while homeowners are hoping their basements don't flood.
Continuous spring rain is a usual concern on Tonawanda Creek. Now that even more rain is in the forecast, homeowners who live near the creek are watching closely.
Tonawanda Creek Road North Resident Corey Sicard said, "Every season it'll go up and down. It'll rise a good four or five feet, then go down four or five feet."
Sicard says in the spring, when the ice melts, the water can get as high as a fence guarding the creek edge.
A house once stood on the property, but two years ago, Tonawanda Creek was fierce, and the house tumbled down the banks and into the creek.
