EAST AMHERST, N.Y. (WIVB) - An East Amherst man has been arrested and charged with ripping off a charitable organization.
The U.S. Attorney's office says 54-year-old Marc Korn has been charged with wire fraud. Korn became the chairman of American Friends of Assaf Harofeh Medical Center in 2005. The organization raises funds to support a medical center. Korn allegedly used charitable funds to pay for lavish personal expenses and took $190,000 from the charity between March 2006 and July 2007.
Korn runs two area nursing homes. He is due back in court on June 2nd. If convicted, he could face a maximum penalty of 20 years in jail, a fine of $250,000, or both.
