Man threatened to sodomize witness

ALDEN, N.Y. (RELEASE) - U.S. Attorney William J. Hochul, Jr. announced today that Chad Koschuk, 40, of Alden, NY, was convicted after a jury trial of threatening to retaliate against a witness in the related racketeering case against his father, Alex Koschschuk. Following the return of the verdict, Chief District Court Chief Judge William M. Skretny remanded Koschuk to the custody of the U.S. Marshals and set sentencing for November 2, 2010. Koschuk faces about 4-1/2 years in jail under the Federal Sentencing Guidelines when he is sentenced.

U.S. Attorneys Anthony M. Bruce and Russell T. Ippolito, who handled the trial of the case, stated that the defendant had been accused of threatening to forcibly sodomize the witness because the witness had provided information to the FBI about his father and testified before the Grand Jury about his father. This occurred during a chance meeting on September 11, 2009 at a convenience food store in Alden, NY.

The conviction was the culmination of an investigation on the part of Special Agents of the Federal Bureau of Investigation, under the direction of Special Agent in Charge James H. Robertson.
