BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) - Leaving the scene of an accident is just one of several charges a driver faces in Amherst.

One passenger is still on the run Friday afternoon and even more charges could be in store for the suspected drunk driver.

Amherst Resident Mark Pagano said, "About 2 o'clock in the morning we heard this loud thunderous noise."

Pagano ran out of his house in the middle of the night to find debris from the crash.

A red SUV had flipped over, debris was scattered across Dellwood Road and Pagano says his car had been hit.

"Our vehicle is basically up here on the grass, pretty devastated," Pagano explained.

Amherst Police say 29-year-James Kenner, of Buffalo, was driving drunk when he slammed into a parked car and rolled over.

"Right after the accident police say the driver and a passenger took off on foot through the neighborhood," Pagano said,

At this point, police say the rollover crash turned into a manhunt.

Amherst Police Captain Michael Camilleri said, "We set up a permitter and our K-9 unit tracked one of the suspects who ended up getting arrested."

Kenner was taken into custody and slapped with numerous charges including DWI and driving without a license .

Camilleri said, "Unfortunately that's what alcohol does on the roads now a days, its pretty sad in my opinion too see this type of devastation."

Fortunately no one was hurt, but Pagano says he still thinks about what could have happened.

"I have a little niece who's 6 years old and I'm constantly worried for her. I don't understand some of the driving on these side streets of how they fly through," Pagano said.
