AMHERST, N.Y. (WIVB) - Some people might think they can handle texting and driving at the same time, but actually trying it could give them a very different idea. That's the idea behind a simulator set up Friday at Northtown World Auto Center, on Sheridan Drive in Amherst.
A recent study says using devices like phones quadruples your chance of getting into and accident.
“You have social media, Facebook, Twitter, everything is right there, so people are always telling you where we're at or I'm going here or meet me here. That coupled with people talking on their cell phones and texting, there's just so many distractions that are being thrown at everyone,” said Bill Keefe, Northtown World Auto Center Sales Manager.
If you want to try it out for yourself, it's at 3900 Sheridan Drive until 6 p.m. Friday and Saturday from 10 a.m. until noon.
