NIAGARA FALLS, N.Y. (WIVB) - A suspect is in custody following a deadly overnight stabbing.
Police told News 4 it all started over a card game in Niagara Falls.
Around 11:30 p.m, 27-year-old Donald Nix was found in the stairway of a home in the 1300 block of Ashland Avenue, with multiple stab wounds.
Nix was taken to Niagara Falls Memorial and was then transferred to ECMC, where he died a few hours later.
At 6:30 a.m. Wednesday, 25-year-old Wilbert Hayes III turned himself in at the police department.
Officers are still interviewing witnesses, but told News 4 an argument and then a fight broke out between the two.
Niagara Falls Police Department Captain William Thomson said, "They were at this apartment playing cards and an argument broke out and the argument resulted in the stabbing."
Police would not get into specifics, but did say Hayes has a history with them.
Hayes has been charged with second-degree murder and first-degree manslaughter.
