BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) - A potential mid-air catastrophe forces an emergency landing at the Buffalo-Niagara Airport.
The plane was forced to make an emergency landing in Buffalo Sunday, as the pilot's windshield cracked.
The United flight from Boston to Chicago kept 176 passengers stranded for nearly five hours.
While no one was hurt, experts say a cracked windshield could lead to disaster.
News 4 Aviation expert Bob Miller said, "The visibility out of the captain's window was totally obscured. But the real concern is if the window should fail altogether. And then we have sudden loss of cabin pressure."
News 4 was told a heating system could be to blame for the cracked glass.
This is the second time a flight has been grounded for a cracked windshield.
