Bitter temps don't stop man's campout

LACKAWANNA, N.Y. (WIVB) - The Bethlehem Steel administration building is set to meet the wrecking ball, but not if one man can help it.

John Nowak is camping out in front of the building. He hopes his sit-in will raise awareness about the more than 100-year-old building. We caught up with him on Wednesday and asked how he was handling the bitter temperatures.

"The wind was tough, the cold is a worry sometimes...you know, what if you can't walk to a building if the car don't start? But it's tough getting out of the blankets, and to get warm takes a little while. People have been dropping food and hot drinks off. And it really helps, all the encouragement," Nowak said.

Late last year, preservationists lost their battle to have the building added to the National Register of Historic Places.
