ECC budget would raise student tuition

BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) - The new budget for ECC would cost its students more money.

The school's $111 million budget proposal calls for a $300 increase in tuition. More than half the money in ECC's budget comes from student tuition.

School officials told Erie County lawmakers during a public hearing Monday that tuition was only supposed to account for one-third of the overall budget when the original formula was devised.

Lawmakers plan to contribute the same amount to ECC's budget as last year - about $17 million. They'll vote on it next month.
