ALDEN, N.Y. (WIVB) - Funeral arrangements have now been finalized for a western New Yorker who made the ultimate sacrifice for his country.
Sergeant Brett Gornewicz of Alden was killed last weekend in an apparent roadside bombing in Afghanistan. His friends remember him as a fun and caring man who always wanted to serve his country.
Gornewicz' wake will be held Sunday from 2 p.m. until 8 p.m. at the Charles Meyer Funeral Home on Broadway in Alden.
His funeral is Monday at 11 a.m. at St. John's Catholic Church in Alden.
