Greyhound fast tracks PFC's bag claim

GETZVILLE, N.Y. (WIVB) - A Getzville soldier Called 4 Action after her bags when AWOL during a Greyhound bus trip.

PFC Annmarie LaDuca was on a four-day pass for Thanksgiving from Fort Riley, Kansas and went to visit a friend in Oklahoma. But on her return trip her duffel bag disappeared.

"I never even switched buses, that is what I was weirded out about. I got there, got into Topeka, Kansas, went to get my luggage, and excited to get and back to base, and it was gone," recalled Annmarie.

She told News 4 getting through to customer service was tough, so she called her mom, Cindy LaDuca.

"She came back with only the clothes on her back and her Army uniform," said Cynthia.

Cynthia called in a report to Greyhound customer service and then she asked for a supervisor.

Cynthia said, "And all you get is voice mail; you don't speak to a human being, and I got so frustrated."

Call 4 Action finally helped Cynthia get through, but officials told her, a missing baggage trace can take 30 days, then it could take another 90 days to pay a claim, if at all.

"Anybody that would have to wait 120 days to have all their belongings considered for reimbursement, it is disgusting," stated Cynthia.

But shortly after our story aired, Greyhound officials put the pedal to the metal. A top executive in Greyhound customer service told the LaDuca's a couple of his operators need re-training and they e-mailed Annmarie a claim form within an hour.

Annmarie estimates her lost property to be about $1,100, and she is getting the form back to Greyhound ASAP, so she can get reimbursed.
