AKRON, N.Y. (WIVB) - Several local high school students are sporting a bold new look.
Akron High School is giving back with their first ever Bald for Bucks event. Students could bid on the chance to shave another student's head.
The chance to shave the principal's head was a big money raiser. But teachers were surprised at another group of students who were eager participate.
Teacher Julie Doyle said, "We're also completely overwhelmed with the number of junior and senior girls, with prom approaching, who are going bald."
Money raised went to the Roswell Park Alliance Foundation and the hair was donated to Locks of Love.
The high school is also celebrating Donate Life Awareness Week this week to teach students about blood and organ donation.
