LANCASTER, N.Y. (WIVB) - Taxpayers got a look at Lancaster Town Supervisor Dino Fudoli's proposed budget for next year, Monday night.
If approved, it would give homeowners their first property tax decrease in 13 years. The spending plan on the table cuts taxes by one percent by making small cuts elsewhere.
"I don't believe any cuts were irresponsible. We made some cuts to vacant positions that haven't been filled in years. So I believe - I don't believe, I know - we are maintaining the same level of services without cutting jobs that were any live-body jobs," Fudoli said.
The town supervisor says overall spending is up this year in large part because of rising employee pension costs.
