BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) - Are two law enforcement agencies about to join forces?
The Erie County Sheriff's Office and the NFTA Police forces are talking about a possible merger. The NFTA has about 80 members, who would filter into the sheriff's office. The move is designed to save money, especially for the NFTA, which is struggling with a deficit.
Erie County Sheriff Timothy Howard says he's open to the idea. The NFTA has been forced to lay off 10 officers this year.
