Problematic consignment shop moving

HAMBURG, N.Y. (WIVB) - A consignment shop in the Village of Hamburg that was the target of several Call 4 Action complaints is moving a few blocks away to a new location.

The owner of Acquired Attire was arrested and charged with defrauding customers who could not get their clothes back, or the money they were promised.

But Acquired Attire is still in business and moving into a new home for the third time in the last four years.

Customer Arlene Kanowski said, "I work, so I have nice clothes. Some of the stuff was new, still had tags on them. Right from the get-go, it was a problem trying to get my money."

Kanowski and several other customers of Acquired Attire Called 4 Action earlier this year, when the store was located on Pine Street in Hamburg. The owner, Patricia Ferrentino, was arrested on fraud charges.

Last month, prosecutors reached a deal with Ferrentino that could lead to the dismissal of all charges against her, come February. Ferrentino's store has also been located in Cheektowaga and West Seneca in just the last three years.

"Some of the stuff was marked wrong. She had my things with somebody else's number on them, until I called her on it, because she had people working for her that apparently did not know what they were doing," Kanowski said.

Now many of Acquired Attire customers are wondering if they will ever seen all the money they were promised or will those promises again be broken.

Kanowski said, "And if she had only done business the way you should do business, at least be halfway honest, she would have had a hell of a business there."

Ferrentino is notifying some of her customers that she anticipates opening her new shop on October 1st. In a hand-written letter, Ferrentino also says she will be settling old accounts by the week of October 22. But that kind of promise, many say, they have heard before.
