Sales tax revenue goes up from January

Shoppers rang in the new year by hitting the stores in full force Saturday.

A new report from Erie County Comptroller Stefan Mychajliw says, the county brought in more than $31 million dollars in sales tax revenue this past January.

It's about $2.5 million dollars more than last year.

Despite the good returns, there are concerns numbers for the rest of the year won't be as strong that could be bad for the county budget.

The comptroller says sales tax revenue for the entire year has to grow by almost three and three quarters percent to make budget.
