WEST SENECA, N.Y. (WIVB) - Americans remembered the fatal attack that propelled the United States into World War II on Friday.

American Legion Post 735 in West Seneca held a memorial service marking the attack on Pearl Harbor. Veterans remembered the nearly 2,400 service personnel and civilians whose lives ended on that "day of infamy."

The attack by the Japanese air force also destroyed 161 U.S. planes and damaged more than 100-other aircraft.
