Two missing teen-aged girls found

ORCHARD PARK, N.Y. (WIVB) - Two 16-year old girls last seen at Chestnut Ridge Park Friday afternoon have been found. Sources tell News 4, the 2 were found by Lackawanna police late Friday night or early Saturday morning.

A search party worked into the night, combing Chestnut Ridge Park in Orchard Park, looking for two 16-year-old girls.

The Erie County Sheriff's helicopter and a large police presence were working to find Carly Chew and Sharon DeCarlo. Authorities tell News 4 the girls, neither of whom are originally from Erie County, were on a group picnic with an organization detectives have yet to identify. They were last seen walking away from Shelter 12 and down into a gully between 2 p.m. and 3 p.m. on Friday.

The Air One helicopter did a flyover of the area and at least 50 officers conducted a grid search of 200 acres of the park beginning around 7 p.m. The park itself is approximately 1213 acres.

Erie County Sheriff's Special Services Chief Scott Patronik said, "Right now, there's no reason for us to believe there was any foul play. One of the things with them walking away and not coming back to the group, obviously there's a possibility that they're runaways. But we didn't want to write it off as they're runaways and not injured down in these steep ravines."
