BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) - The University at Buffalo is moving full speed ahead with its expansion plans in our own backyard.

Thursday night, President Satish Tripathi told hundreds of alumni and business leaders at the Hotel Lafayette that western New York's economy will benefit as UB grows into an even stronger center of academics and research.

"We sort of see ourselves as one of the key partners in the economic development of western New York. And that's our obligation and we take that very seriously," Dr. Tripathi said.

Dr. Tripathi says UB plans to add 250 to 300 new faculty over the next five years as it expands its medical campus downtown and other programs on the north and south campuses.
