AMHERST, N.Y. (WIVB) - An 85-year-old woman escaped without serious injures after her car plowed into a restaurant in Amherst.

Police say the driver hit the gas pedal instead of the brake while trying to park at Friendly's on Maple Road. The vehicle smashed into the brick wall. The driver suffered minor injures to her leg and knee.

Amherst Police Officer Carl Fischer said, "Lucky she didn't get hurt. There's a bunch of damage to some pipes and some machinery and things like that a staff member could have potentially been working on at that time."

No one inside was hurt. Damage to Friendly's is estimated at $25,000.
