EAST AURORA, N.Y. (WIVB) - There's nothing small about them when it comes to the happiness they've brought to children for generations. Fisher-Price in East Aurora is celebrating 50 years of "Little People."
Some very happy little people came to see an exclusive "Little
People" live show!
Fisher-Price is celebrating the brand's 50th birthday in it's
hometown of East Aurora.
Senior Vice President of Marketing Lisa Mancuso said, "Today is the debut of the live tour show which will then go on in April all the way across the country until June."
The Little People brand is recognized around the world.
So what is it that makes it so popular and unique?
Director of Product Development Bob Jourdian said, "Everyone has experienced Little People. If you were ever a child, which I think everyone was in the past 50 years, you've had the experience to experience the Little People brand."
The original concept launched back in 1958 with the Looky Fire Truck.
Jourdian said, "And the Looky Fire Truck actually had figures on it, fire men that were on it that were attached to it that didn't come off."
Those little figures were liberated the following year with the introduction of the "Safety School Bus."
The magic of little people has evolved ever since, but they were first known as the "Play Family."
The company changed their names after noticing that moms always referred to them as the Little People.
Jourdian said, "Today Little People is to Fisher-Price a multi million dollar brand, an international brand."
A multi-million dollar brand that never fails to bring smiles to the faces of little people.
