The future of Allegany State Park is beginning to take shape.
A public meeting took place Wednesday night at Salamanca High School.
The State Parks System is looking to adopt a master plan that calls for more recreational and educational opportunities at Allegany, while also protecting the character of the park's natural resources.
Tom Alworth of the New York State Parks Department said, "It's a means of being cost effective because good plannings mean we make decisions once and the right decisions. So it's important from a financial perspective as well."
A second hearing will take place Thursday night at Buffalo State College.
