BATAVIA, N.Y. (WIVB) - A little boy in Batavia got to hug his father for the first time in about a year. Kindergartener Hasan Armstrong had no idea his Christmas wish would come true at his school concert Thursday morning.
His teacher, Mrs. Wolff, told the audience, "My little guy said to me, 'Mrs. Wolff, my mom can't come, because she's working, and my dad is in the Army.' And I said, 'Well honey, you can come with me. You can come get a cookie with me.' But sweetie, I have a surprise for you! Mom is here. Mom, where are you?"
Little Hasan's mom came out and gave him a hug as the audience looked on. But that wasn't the only surprise up his mom's sleeve.
"Corporal Haven Armstrong!" said Mrs. Wolff.
Hasan ran to his father and jumped into his arms.
Cpl. Armstrong said, "Words don't explain it. You don't see that type of love until you come back home. It's overwhelming."
His wife Stephanie added, "It just brings joy to my heart. My kids - and I think any parent can relate - just seeing them happy, there's nothing that brings you more joy."
