LeROY, N.Y. (WIVB) - Things appear to be returning to normal in Leroy.
Doctors say three LeRoy students who had been experiencing tourettes-like symptoms for months have been cured.
Five others are showing significant improvement. Doctors at the Dent Institute in Amherst had diagnosed the students with conversion disorder.
Dr. Drew Pinsky said, "Lately there's not been as much media attention directed toward that town and maybe that has helped this whole thing settle down. It's a double-edged sword. The media attentioned allowed us to direct some attention to them. They got treatment for the PANDAS. You have Erin Brocovich up there."
A child neurologist from New Jersey diagnosed eight of the girls with PANDAS, an auto-immune syndrome and treated them with antibiotics.
