Kurzdorfer considered best female shot putter

LANCASTER, N.Y. (WIVB) - She's been setting records for a while, and now she's considered the best female shot putter in the country.

If you follow high school track and field, the name Melissa Kurzdorfer should sound familiar.

Lancaster's Melissa Kurzdorfer has come along way since stepping onto the track scene in 7th grade.

Melissa has gone from that to a two time indoor and outdoor state champion.

Recently, she set a new state record.

Humbled by the fact that she is number one in the country, Melissa continues to focus on the larger goals she has set for herself.

Schools large and small have shown interest. UCLA has been knocking at Melissa's door almost daily.

On Saturday, Kurzdorfer will compete at Lancaster High School at 5:00 p.m., along with other olympic throwers.

It's the first every rock and roll throw-off invitational.
