NIAGARA FALLS, ONT. (WIVB) - Four people escaped from a burning vehicle following an accident Monday night in Niagara Falls, Ontario.
While driving on Schisler Rd. near Montrose Rd. around 7:30p.m., police say a vehicle drove off the road.
The vehicle crashed into trees and bushes when all of a sudden the car caught fire. Police say the fire was most likely caused by a ruptured gas line spraying fuel on the hot engine.
There were four people inside the car at the time of the crash and fire. All four made it out safely, but were all injured.
Two people were taken to the Niagara Health System Hospital in Welland.
One person was taken to Greater Niagara General Hospital in Niagara Falls.
One male victim whose name is being withheld, died at ECMC 2 days after the accident.
The cause of the accident is unknown and under investigation.
Niagara Regional Police is asking any witnesses to contact the NRP collision reconstruction unit at 905-688-4111 ext. 5500.
