NIAGARA FALLS, N.Y. (WIVB) - Approximately 80 members of the 27th Brigade returned home to Niagara Falls around 11:30 Friday morning.
The troops were stationed at Afghanistan for one year, before returning to Mississippi last week, and then to their hometowns in western New York.
Friends and family were ecstatic to see their loved ones back home safe and sound.
One exciting moment for a particular couple, was when a returning soldier got down on one knee and proposed to his new fiancé.
He planned the whole proposal while he was overseas, making arrangements with a jeweler from Buffalo, and of course keeping it all from his soon-to-be-wife.
