BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) - AmeriCorps is making a new home in the City of Buffalo.

The agency started in West Seneca 14 years ago with a handful of young service volunteers. Now more than 600 young people serve the needs of the region.

The group will take over retail space of a former Shea's Theater Building on Seneca Street Buffalo.

Mark Lazzara says the move brings AmeriCorps closer to the work it does. "Today, WNY Americorps is an independent non-profit. We're really excited about that. We're excited about being here in a community in the city of Buffalo, where we have served since we started so we're really really proud about that."
