EAST AURORA, NY (WIVB) - Animal control is in the process of seizing as many as 73 horses from a scene in the Town of Aurora.
>>>53 cats and 4 dogs were also removed from the property
The Erie County SPCA, the East Aurora Police, and animal control arrived at a farm at 1680 Emery Road around 8 am this morning.
They suspect the owner of the horses, Beth Hoskins, of not treating the horses properly, something that neighbors have told News 4 also. Reportedly the horses were not even let out during the warm summer months.
Officials found the horses today living in feces, among other problems however, there are no charges filed at this time.
Gina Browning, Erie County SPCA said, "It's impossible to speculate, we're not sure exactly what happened but what we have found in the past with animal cruelty cases is that rarely in situations like this is there intended malice. Usually in similar situations it's someone with the best of intentions and things got out of control and the owner gets in over his or her head. It's impossible to speculate on this particular case."
