AMHERST, N.Y. (WIVB) - The big fix is set to begin at Toyota dealerships across the country.
They're repairing recalled vehicles.
It's all part of a campaign to keep Toyota customers happy in the wake of recalls affecting millions of vehicles.
Starting Monday, local Toyota dealers like the Northtown Toyota dealership in Amherst will be working around the clock to fix the vehicles that were recalled because of sticky accelerator pedals.
If your car is affected, you'll see a silver piece on the inside of your pedal like this.
"This is an affected pedal. So again, they would just look and see if it has that silver piece," said Northtown Toyota Co owner Craig Schreiber.
The problem takes thirty minutes to fix. Another recall from November has Toyota consumers concerned their accelerator pedal could become trapped by the floor mat.
Jon Szpakowski a Toyota Technician said, "Involves reshaping the bottom of the gas pedal, also replacing the styrofoam pad underneath the carpet."
Local dealers know that the massive recall has put a dent in Toyota's once sterling reputation.
"I'd be less than honest if I told you I wasn't concerned about the impact that all of this has had on the customer's perception of the Toyota brand," said Schreiber.
Officials with Northtown Toyota say their 24 hour service will continue through the week.
