BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) - A west side home is being demolished, but materials from the vacant house will be put to good use.

The group Buffalo ReUse began knocking down a vacant home on Normal Street.

The house is in the same neighborhood as the Extreme Makeover house, and it had been slated for demolition.

Buffalo ReUse says using reclaimed lumber and other materials from vacant houses, is a way to reduce housing costs.

"Most of the stuff that was inside that could be reused the sinks, tubs, things like that were taken out last week, now they are taking it part to reuse the wood, bricks, foundation, stone," said Rachel Matthews, Volunteer Coordinator.

This is the same group that helped in the demolition of the Extreme Makeover house, on Massachusetts Avenue.
