BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) - For the first time in roughly a decade, cameras are being allowed inside the Erie County Holding Center.
It was Erie County Sheriff Tim Howard's decision to let the media inside the Holding Center.
Friday at 9:30 a.m. the doors opened.
Only one video camera and one still camera were allowed inside. That footage will be shared with all news organizations.

News 4 can't share images on inside the jail just yet, because copies need to be made. News 4 will have those images to share Friday on News 4 at 5.
The entire tour lasted about one hour and forty minutes. It involved what inmates go through during the booking process and the areas where they are housed and screened.
News 4 also got to see some of the modifications that have been made for suicide prevention.
