Catholic Health to move jobs downtown

BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) - Catholic Health is planning to move approximately 700 associates to the downtown Buffalo workforce.

The company announced their plans Thursday to build a 140,000 square-foot facility on Genesee Street, between Elm and Oak Streets. The $46 million facility will be an administrative and regional training center.

“Our founding sponsors laid the foundation for healthcare in Buffalo more than 150 years ago and with the support and leadership of Mayor Byron Brown and the advocacy of Assemblywoman Crystal Peoples-Stokes, we are able to honor their legacy by building this facility in the heart of Buffalo. We had many options for a new home, but we wanted to be downtown and the Mayor and his team helped move that process forward,” said Joe McDonald, President and CEO for Catholic Health.

The Uniland Development Company will construct and lease the six-story building with an adjacent parking garage on a vacant piece of land also located on Genesee Street.

Pending all necessary approvals, construction is expected to begin by the end of 2012 and be completed by the summer of 2014.
