BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) - City engineers are working to repair a huge water main break in Buffalo.
Officials say it appears a valve on a 16-inch line broke on Smith Street near Perry, around 8 a.m. Tuesday morning.
Police and city crews rushed to the residential neighborhood to deal with the flooded streets. They had to shut off water in the 16 and a 48 inch line to start to fix the problem.
"Our main goal is to go down and get that valve repaired. We don't believe there is any substantial damage otherwise. We'll be meeting with the residents. We have protection so if there is any damage to their property we'll cover that as well," said Peter Merlo, a City of Buffalo Engineer.
Engineers say only a few residents nearby should see reduced
water pressure while they're repairing the damage.
