CLARENCE, N.Y. (WIVB) - It was one year ago Friday, when Continental flight 3407 crashed into a home in Clarence Center.

The tragedy killed 50 people, including everyone on board the plane, and one person on the ground.

More than 500 people registered to walk in memory of the crash victims.  The journey began at 9:30 a.m. Friday morning, on Long Street in Clarence.

"What it's turned out to is instead of being alone with broken hearts, we're gonna be together with broken hearts, but a real support here, and the community, I can't say enough about it. They've just ran to our side helping us," said John Kausner, the father of a crash victim.

Joining those hundreds of people will be Miracle on the Hudson co-pilot Jeff Skiles.

He's supporting the families of flight 3407 in their push for improved airline safety.

"You know, I think that we need to draw attention to the issues here. This just isn't an anniversary event. We've got important legislation that needs to be passed in Washington to protect the safety of the traveling public," said Jeff Skiles, co pilot on US Airways flight 1549.

These recently-released photos were taken by a Sheriff Deputy at the crash scene.

They will be presented on DVD Friday night to first responders at Clarence Town Hall.
