RANDOLPH, N.Y. (WIVB) - The latest round of lake effect hit parts of Cattaraugus County the hardest, in places like Randolph and Cassadaga.
For the people who live in Cattaraugus County, the snow has been relentless.
Deputy Joe Magara of the Cattaraugus County Sheriff's office advised, "Just go slow!"
Deputy Magara put that warning out to drivers following Route 241. A young driver slid right off the road.
"This is just the case of a driver failing to negotiate a curve," said Deputy Magara.
Tom said, "Lots of snow, lots of cars in the ditch."
All this white, has Tom seeing green. He's from "Anytime Towing" and the name says it all. He's averaging 25 cars a day for the past three days. He's working day and night, basically "anytime."
"Nasty, lots of snow, lot's of ice, slippery roads," said Tom.
The village of Randolph has been hit hard. So far they have 47 inches of snow and counting. Main Street was impassable earlier Wednesday.
John Congdon of the Randolph Fire Department said, "It was so high we couldn't park the cars and we couldn't get two lanes of traffic through, so the state brought their equipment in and the town brought their equipment in and we're clean and ready to open."
A travel ban that was put in place and then lifted is back on again Wednesday night for the entire town of Randolph. But hearty western New Yorkers are prepared.
"This is western New York, it's winter, we expect that," said Congdon.
