WESTFIELD, N.Y. (WIVB) - Tuesday morning, the Erie County Sheriff's Department's helicopter headed out to the southern tier to try to rescue a dog.
The Sheriff's Air One helicopter was up late Monday night, trying to help the dog which is stuck out on the ice of Lake Erie.
Rescuers were unsuccessful in their attempts by boat and from the air, Monday night.
The animal was stuck on an ice floe overnight, about a quarter mile from shore, near Westfield in Chautauqua County.
