BUFFALO, NY (WIVB) - Buffalo firefighters worked quickly overnight to try and knock down heavy flames at a home on North Park Avenue.
Neighbors say it was quite a sight to wake up to.
Those flames broke out around 1 a.m. Monday at a North Park Avenue home and nearly spread to two neighboring residences.
Four people live in the apartment house but only one person was home at the time of the fire.
Investigators are still looking into the cause.
Firefighters say they believe a man tried earlier to put out a smaller fire in his apartment, that man carried debris from that fire outside and onto the porch.
If that is the case, Division Chief Mogavero says the fire could have been prevented.
He urges anyone with a fire to call 911, and let professionals make sure the flames are fully extinguished.
