BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) - Two local Congressmen said it's about time western New York had a full-time passport office.
Democrat Brian Higgins and Republican Chris Lee were at Buffalo's Broderick Park, which is within sight of Canada.
In just over two weeks, the Western Hemisphere Travel Initiative will require Americans returning from Canada to have passports or enhanced driver licenses.
A dedicated passport office would allow applicants to receive passports the day they apply. No word yet where or when that office would open.
