PEMBROKE, N.Y. (WIVB) - A tragic chain of events claimed a life along a western New York roadway, Saturday morning.

After hitting a deer along the I-90 westbound in the Town of Pembroke, State Police say 33-year-old Julie Stratton's car became disabled in the passing lane.

A tractor trailer in the same lane then struck Stratton's car, killing her instantly.

That driver, 45-year-old Thomas Wallace, was taken to United Memorial Medical Center.

He is expected to recover from his injuries.
