KENMORE, N.Y. (WIVB) - National Air Cargo is lending a helping hand to Jammies for GI's.
The delivery company is packing up 3,000 pounds of donated items and supplies and is bringing them to Brooke Army Medical Center in San Antonio, Texas.
Jammies for GI's received all of the items from local churches, schools and other community drives.
Jammies for GI's began several years ago in Tonawanda when military mom, Cheryl Lepsch realized her injured son needed supplies as he was hospitalized.
This latest round of supplies will help burned and amputee troops during their recovery.
"We have all new socks, underwear, t-shirts. We have amputee shorts and tear-away pants. We have personal care items, soaps, toothpaste, shampoos. We have suitcases, believe it or not, they need carry-on suitcases to bring their items. So, a lot of great things in there," said Cheryl.
The supplies are expected to arrive at Brooke Medical Center on Friday.
Jammies for GI's is staffed entirely by volunteers.
