BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) - Firefighters called Buffalo Homicide detectives Wednesday, after finding a body inside a burning car.

Police are now confirming they discovered the body of a male victim inside the vehicle.

At around 2 a.m. Wednesday, Buffalo firefighters responded to calls about a car fire in the 100 block of Roma Avenue.

As rescuers put out the flames, they found the remains of the male victim.

Ivory Fleming woke up after hearing, what she describes, as a popping noise.

When she looked down the street, she says she could see the flames shooting from the red Taurus.

Shortly after the flames were put out, Fleming says she talked to homicide detectives at the scene. "I go to ask the officer and say please tell me there's no body in that car. He couldn't talk to me right then and there, but I finds out there's a body in the car, I definitely, definitely, definitely, my heart sunk."

Police say they are awaiting autopsy results to determine a cause of death.

They have not released the name of male victim's name.
